Facebook Groups can now screen new members with a questionnaire

Facebook is making good on Mark Zuckerberg’s promise to build community by improving admin tools for Facebook Groups. Now Group admins can establish up to three questions for people requesting to join their Group to answer. This lets admins screen potential members to ensure they’re the right fit for the group and will add constructively to the discussion, not just spam or troll the Group.

Facebook’s Zuckerberg: “We have work to do to prevent tragedies”

Mark Zuckerberg didn’t shy away from the controversy over the disturbing videos of a fatal shooting posted on Facebook Sunday.

 

After a lighthearted introduction in which the CEO of Facebook compared its F8 developer conference Tuesday to the latest film in “The Fast and the Furious” franchise (the latest of which is also referred to as “F8”), Zuckerberg turned more serious. He offered his condolences and reiterated the company’s position that it will review its “reporting flows” so that users can flag video and other content that violates its policies.

Facebook’s ‘Explore’ tab wants to be an alternative to your News Feed

Social media has a recognised problem with echo chambers and fake news. To change this perception, Facebook appears to be experimenting with an alternative News Feed.

Mark Zuckerberg’s social network has reportedly added a new tab to a development version of its application that encourages users to find new photos, videos, and articles.

According to Mashable the ‘Explore’ tab is available on the latest beta version of the Android app. The new explore section can be accessed at the top of the screen and is an alternative to the ‘Home’ feed.

Facebook admits flaw in data it shares with advertisers

Mark Zuckerberg’s company confessed to the “bug” in a blog post on how it is changing its metrics and reporting for pages owned by businesses, media companies, sports clubs and other organisations.

“We know that having access to reliable metrics is important to the millions of partners who use our services to grow their businesses,” the company wrote in the blog post. Later in the post it explained that Page Insights had not been reporting correctly.
