| Choosing the Right Product to Promote |
Increasing profits with a little know how
For Internet Marketers, settling upon a product to promote and campaign is usually done a bit too haphazardly-and understandably so. For Internet Marketers, there is always pressure to find the latest "it" thing and to ride it just before the next hot item begins selling. In other words, timing is everything, and there's simply never enough of it.
Because of this rush, though, the wrong product to promote-or, at the least, a weak product with only a few dedicated buyers-is settled upon and then given time, energy, and resources. Needless to say, this gets you nowhere fast, and once you see that the product is a dud, it's simply too late-the damage has already been done. But, there are a few simple steps to take that can help in choosing a product to promote that makes the process more precise, rather than just a guessing game.
If they know it, they will buy it. Of course the first step in choosing a worthwhile product is finding a niche. After you have selected a suitable niche, i.e. a substantial group of buyers who each have the same need and are shopping for the same product or service, and then it's time to begin searching for a product that is already selling. This may seem like a no-brainer, but this is an important rule to follow. A product that is already selling is most likely A) a quality product, B) a product that has already been rated positively, and C) a product that people have already heard of.
If a product is already on the market and faring well, then most of the work has already been done-it has been promoted, circulated, and talked about. Now all that's left for you to accomplish is to provide your own promotion and a link where buyers can get their hands on the merchandise.
For example, an up-and-coming company unveils a new product that is hip, relatively inexpensive, and looks to be the next hot ticket item for a substantial group of buyers. You feel that it would be a savvy move to take the plunge and be one of the first Internet Marketers to promote the product. After you've invested the time and energy into your campaign, you launch it and sit back to anxiously await the results. After a month, barely a nibble. The problem? The product, although nifty and trendy, is still virtually unheard of. Rather than making a splash, it simply failed to move.
Instead of trying to find the next best thing, try concentrating on an item that is more tried-and-true. For instance, the latest video gaming system has just recently been launched and has been causing quite a stir both in print and online. By choosing one of the system's accessories or games to promote, the bet is a much safer one and, therefore, is much more likely to turn your efforts into solid profits.
The more you know, the more you will sell Though the most important step is settling upon a product or service to promote, arguably the second most important step is knowing what you are promoting. Does this take extra time? Yes. Is it worth it? You better believe it. Online shoppers are becoming more and more knowledgeable of the differences between fact and fiction on the Internet. Put yourself in their shoes: When you shop online, more than likely you become a bit more attentive to details than if you were browsing for the same product in a brick and mortar store. The reason is simply that we have all been warned and warned again about the importance of confirming the legitimacy of the site, seller, and product before we make an online purchase.
So, it is only logical that the time taken to become intimate with the product that you plan to promote will only strengthen its sales. Use the product for yourself, that way; you can apply your five senses to it as you run your own battery of tests (Quality components? Does it do what it was marketed to do? How well? etc). That firsthand knowledge will become priceless as you plan the details of your marketing and promotion. Also do your homework, read reviews, watch tutorials, visit the company's site and research their materials on the product.
Now that you've picked the product(s), done your research you need a marketing plan that works and that's where www.MarketingHits.com coming in. |
